Volunteer service is woven into the fabric of WLCAC. In 1965, five volunteers founded the organization with a shoestring budget and enthusiasm to effect change. 44 years later WLCAC still thrives on the support, dedication and service of volunteers operating under the, "Don't Move, Improve" philosophy of our late founder, Ted Watkins. The WLCAC Volunteer Program is focused on providing volunteers with opportunities to impact the community through service, action and drive to fulfill the mission of building leadership and capacity in individuals, while simultaneously building capacity within the organization. The Volunteer Program is designed to be a mutually beneficial experience for volunteers, community members, and the organization alike.
